I'm getting an unreasonable amount of pleasure out of watching Rudy Giuliani being grilled on election security at his ethics hearing.

Zoom Hearing - In re Rudolph Giuliani, DN. 22-BD-027, at 9 a.m.

We covered the stuff they're asking him about right now in my class about a month ago. Maybe he should have taken it as part of his prep.
The icing on the cake was where he blurted out right before the lunch break that he just noticed he's wearing two watches.
Hearing resuming now.
Ah, he finally invoked BLM/Antifa/Soros/Philly-DA conspiracies. Because of course.

It would be a shame if his sad, confused performance at this hearing were to be remembered as the totality of the legacy Giuliani leaves behind. He accomplished much as NYC's mayor, as exemplified by his calm, even-handed stewardship of the city's war on ferrets:

Rudy's expert just dissed Risk Limiting Audits. Fighting words
@mattblaze Did that "expert" also, at the end of their testimony, say that the non-compliance rate directly equated to people voting that shouldn't?
Like "if you have 87% compliance and 160 million voters that means 19k illegal votes"... Also he seemed to suggest that we can't get better "compliance" (which is still not defined) voting because the IRS only has 87% and so anything higher then that is "pie in the sky"?
@MrsMouse yeah, that was an astonishingly, um, creative analysis.
@mattblaze ... And I think you have recently tooted about the use of the word "creative".
Generally, I think anything I can catch without paying a lot of attention must be pretty... amazing.
@mattblaze I noticed that too. I presume his statements are BS, but I'd like to understand why. I'm not trying to give you a homework assignment, but will you briefly elaborate on why he's wrong? Or point me to a resource where I can learn more?
@michaelbonnettjr An RLA is a rigorous, deterministic process that tells you, to a statistical level of certainty, who won, even if there was tampering or a malfunction. This is precisely what you want to know about an election. A "forensic audit" (his term) is an open-ended investigation for which a negative result tells you nothing (you can't distinguish between a correct election outcome and an insufficient investigation).
@mattblaze Thank you. If I remember correctly, he seemed to totally discount the ability of the RLA to determine the winner if tampering occurred.
@mattblaze is that a de-bar hearing ?
@sxpert Certainly the way it's going it is.
@mattblaze I wonder what he'd say about weasels
@danak6jq @mattblaze nothing but kind words, I'm sure, since they're his own kind.
@sspopovich @mattblaze Excellent point, though weasels called and asked not to be associated with Rudy
@danak6jq @sspopovich He mentions weasels, actually. You'd think there'd be professional courtesy, but no.
@mattblaze this can't be real life 😂
@mattblaze
I consider the press conference at Four Seasons Landscaping to be the very pinnacle of his legacy. *chef's kiss*
@mattblaze Maybe a bit of a crap take from a guy in the UK here, but he basically took the praise for other's work- even regarding 9/11?
Like I say, it maybe a crappy take but, fuck Rudi. (Unless you're a teenager/adolescent).
@MrBigEars It's probably fair to say he handled the day itself competently, but he dined out on that for an awfully long time afterward. And more seriously, some of the policies of his administration likely contributed to the communications failures that caused deaths of many of the first responders. (E.g., the lack of communication between NYPD, which had a helicopter, and FDNY, which had people in the tower who never got an evacuation warning.)
@mattblaze If it weren’t for Rudy, NYC would have been overrun by [ruffles through notes] pushcart vendors, outdoor café patrons, jaywalkers, bike messengers, squeegee men, and all the other targets of his three-week-long tantrums.
@mattblaze Space lasers?

@ciphermonger @mattblaze

Bonus points iF he quotes 'non-denominational space platforms' bingo is on my buzzword(s) card. ☑️

Say. I.T.! Say I.T.!!!! ☑️🦅🗽

@mattblaze they should charge for this hearing because I am extremely entertained.
@mattblaze Blows my mind that someone so openly racist could have been NYC mayor.
@tprophet It was a slow horror watching his mask get progressively unpeeled with each successive year of his tenure as mayor. He went from legendary mafia prosecutor to slightly deranged anti-ferret ranter to openly-racist-uncle-at-thanksgiving in less than a decade.
@mattblaze "Mr Giuliani, I ask the questions..."
@mattblaze really didn’t expect watches to get multiple references in the hearing today “I'm asking you what time it is and you're telling me how to make a watch.” -DC disciplinary counsel earlier today
@mattblaze
My uncle with fronto-temporal dementia : "one for the night, one for the day". OK....
@mattblaze you give “rude”-y too much credit.
@mattblaze Is there a syllabus for your class available online somewhere? I found the course description and it sounds fascinating
@mattblaze he may not look at bar codes, but may he be disbarred
@mattblaze It should be made into reality TV
@mattblaze is he doing the zoom in front of 4 seasons landscaping ?
the loony tunes world cup!
@mattblaze I was unaware Rudy was a subject matter expert at such things. How many cereal boxtops did he have to send in to get his certificate, or was it more like the process by which Herschel Walker got his badge?
@mattblaze "is this evidence of election fraud?" "It could be *goes into tamgent*"
I cracked up laughing.
@mattblaze Story Time with Uncle Rudy.
@mattblaze I'm also completely here for Carolyn's big-ass, smirk-hiding, Jesus mug.
@mattblaze making we took that one personally when it aired
@mattblaze Unfortunately I can't enjoy the video...apparently I'm not allowed.
@mattblaze He kept admitting that he basically took unsubstantiated wishful thinking and represented it as fact.
