I was just reading a post with “Christian” in their profile and their love of muskrat. Tell me if I’m wrong but aren’t Christians meant to follow Jesus? You know the man who was for the poor and freeing people from oppression. Yet these types seem to be for the rich oppressors?
@SpockResists There's just no point at all trying to make any sense of that.
@Lorry I hate trouble with things that seem illogical. đź––
@SpockResists I don’t think churches work that way anymore. I’d love an actual reporter to reveal what goes on inside most modern churches. It ain’t reading the Bible.
@GuitarGirl @SpockResists - White Evangelical churches ABSOLUTELY, but all churches are not the same. I am an atheist, but I have great respect for Unitarian Universalists, Quakers, and other liberal sects, and also (mostly) for Black churches.
@SpockResists My dog has a greater understanding of Jesus' teachings than most of those self-proclaimed Christians. They've got no idea what irony is, either.
@SpockResists they pick and choose which parts of the Bible they follow. There’s no logic involved, in fact, logic is discouraged. Just believe what the church preaches, and you will be “saved”.
@SpockResists Your post is logical but they are actually fascists who label themselves christians.
@SpockResists
In my not-so-humble opinion, anyone who flaunts their religion as a "brand" is phony. I am atheist but I marvel at the incredible complexity of living things & see why people could believe there MUST be some intelligence driving it all. But they then give it a name, claim it talks to them, make up rules it supposedly dictates, hang symbols around their necks & put their particular religious "brand" in their profile along with their favorite sports team.
Live it; don't flaunt it!
@SpockResists In my humble opinion, people should interpret their personal philosophies as they see fit (so long as they're not oppressive or harming someone else). Even when this leads to an uncomfortable cognitive dissonance which it often does in matters of faith. In a pinch, if they're Christian, I'll usually point them to Mark 7:6.

@SpockResists When you’ve been fed a steady diet of prosperity theology, it’s not hard to reach the false conclusion that billionaires are rich because of divine will. You also reject any criticism of the rich, because the man behind the pulpit keeps telling you that same divine will is coming for you, too, if you just add a few more dollars to the collection plate.

@wtspman @SpockResists the Jesus of the Gospels wouldn’t even recognize Evangelical Jesus.

@wtspman @SpockResists

Following the money surely is a useful technique.

@SpockResists evangelism teaches that god rewards those he loves most with money. And if you are poor you must do better to gain gods favor by donating to their mega church. That’s why the pastors of the mega church have billions of dollars, because obviously god loves them more.
@SpockResists I'm a little surprised I haven't seen any push back from fundamentalists about Musk's desire to implant microchips into people's brains.
@SpockResists yes that's right and it's mind boggling how people will throw that label on themselves and then behave the way they do. I think real Christians who actually do care/feed/clothe the poor, and help others without any agenda for themselves are few and far between. I personally think Jesus was Independent or Democrat. No wonder the ppl hated him - he didn't have a job and he hung out with the lower class!! (sarcasm added) :D
@SpockResists when someone says they are Christian I ask them two questions:
1) what is your favorite book in the Bible
2) what is your preferred printing of the Bible
—if the answer to 1 is an Old Testament book (before Jesus) I stop talking to them
— if their answer to 1 was a New Testament book & their answer to 2 is the red letter version with all Jesus’s words highlighted in red I smile to myself and know I can keep talking

@voron @SpockResists

I considered myself a Red Letter Christian before I stopped identifying as one, but my favorite is definitely the Book of Ruth.

I am a sucker for a well-told romance.

@SpockResists They follow Jesus like the Taliban follows Allah. These “Christian’s” are antithetical to everything written in the Bible. They are liars and morally bankrupt.

@SpockResists

#Christians don't need to tell you that they're Christians.

@SpockResists fascists actually don’t have an ideology. They seek to glorify power structures that they believe will benefit them. The “Christian” moniker doesn’t mean anything in this instance, the very use of the term is now almost synonymous with evangelical Christianity—a fascist political movement trying to hide as a religious movement.
@SpockResists idols = collective ego mentality. The fact most aren’t able to “ feel right, or maintain a rightness inside, “ bc of a continuous bombardment of being told we are dirty sinner’s plays a huge part in psychosis.

@SpockResists they've gone from "no vaccines, they have nano technology to put a chip inside if you to control you" to "we love that rich guy who announced he wants to put a chip on our brains".

🤷‍♂️

@SpockResists

They also seem to have forgotten the story of the Golden Calf in the Old Testament. That is who they are. Golden Calf worshippers.

Justification by faith is not what Jesus taught either. These phony Christians In Name Only better hope the Catholic Church is right and there is a purgatory between heaven and hell.

Else them and Dante are going to have a personal relationship.
