I used to think that the main players, i.e. Flynn, Lindell, et al didn't really believe what they were selling, that it was a means to an end. And perhaps evangelism and charismatic Christianity is simply a way of gaining wider appeal. But ultimately MAGA is based in a belief system and like most cults there are layers. The frightening part in my opinion is that by believing this is a battle of good and evil, there is justification for committing all sorts of horrors.
Of all the commentary on our current situation, Dave Troy has been the most informative. I struggled to understand the appeal of Trump when he came on the scene, however most posts were less analysis and more outrage. In the end I've learned that getting rid of Trump alone will not solve our problem. He is actually dispensable and not the main player behind the movement. Unfortunately I am afraid that anything we do now will be too little too late.
Elon Musk is proving what a hypocrite he is. First he states how he wants to make Twitter a source of accurate information. Then he tweets out false information by claiming that SBF will not be investigated because he donated to the DNC. SBF is in fact under investigation. Then he picks a fight with Senator Markey over an impersonation account when he was quick to shut down the accounts that were impersonating him.
