JS2Best android app for #Mastodon ?
Currently using #Tusky which is ok, pretty user friendly but lacking a few functions.
Only alternatives seem to be the #Mastodonapp or #Tooot
Recommendations?

#Open #Source allows to create variants of existing #software. So you could split a project to something new... or add something. That's a fork. @megalodon is doing this to add missing features to "#Mastodon for #Android"...

Nach dem letzten Update eine kleine Überraschung - neue Logos, und Mastodos hat sogar den Namen komplett geändert. Der Name Mastodos (mit S!!) hatte wohl wegen der allzustarken Namensähnlichkeit mit Mastodon für zu viel Verwechselung gesorgt.

discontinued pink shark app@Svenja_Tenkes @nick @jayesstoo Nun ja, wegen Mastodos (mit altem Logo) wurde dieser Absatz bei der Code-Dokumentation der offiziellen App hinzugefügt: "The Mastodon name and logo are trademarks of Mastodon gGmbH. If you intend to redistribute a modified version of this app, use a unique name and icon for your app that does not mistakenly imply any official connection with or endorsement by Mastodon gGmbH." 😅

Wo wir hier gerade dabei sind: Gibt es ein Statement zur aktuellen Situation bzgl. Verfügbarkeit von #Megalodon via F-Droid?
@nick Kein Statement, es gibt einfach nix Neues zum Thema. Hab mich mal kurz reingelesen – scheinbar muss man in der F-Droid-Repo ne PR erstellen und vorher sicherstellen, dass alle Voraussetzungen erfüllt werden. Dafür hatte ich bisher einfach keine Nerven (weiß auch nicht, ob die Upstream-Implementation der Notifications auf F-Droid darf) – die PR muss man als App-Maintainer_in aber scheinbar nicht mal selbst erstellen, also falls sich jemand drum kümmern will, go ahead :')
Nach etwas Grübeln... frage ich jetzt doch mal doof nach... was ist in diesem Fall mit PR gemeint? Ein Press Release?

Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch sprechen & verstehen aber nichts sehr gut.
Jetzt muss ich Google Translate verwenden, um zu antworten mehr.
Also muss ich kopieren und in Google Translate einfügen, um zu lesen, was so langsam ist wie mein Gehirn.
Ich habe LongCovid, also funktioniert mein Gehirn nicht gut.
Vielen Dank für die Informationen, aber ich denke, ich werde vielleicht einen Browser verwenden, um auf Mastodon zuzugreifen. Viel einfacher für mich.

We talked about the name change of the #Mastodos project to #Megalodon.
To keep it easy, you may want to try #Tusky and/or #Fedilab on #Android. Both should be available via F-Droid and also the PlayStore.

@nick @jayesstoo implementing translation should be a matter of asking the mastodon server for the translation (which itself should invoke the DeepL translation), so i don't think there's much to look into and i hope to be able to implement this soon
@megalodon @nick @jayesstoo was ich eigentlich damit sagen wollte ist: immer wenn ich Jemandem die App Mastodos (endet auf S) empfahl kam als Antwort "nee, die Mastodon App (endet bekanntlich auf N) hat mir zu wenige Features". Da die Leute offenbar zu oberflächlich beim Lesen sind hatte es dann auch wenig Sinn, sie darauf hinzuweisen, daß die App MastodoS gemeint war 🤷🏻♀️ -hab's zwar versucht, es erfolgte leider keine Reaktion darauf 😔
@megalodon @nick @jayesstoo ...die Verwechslung der beiden Worte und damit der Apps spielte sich auch auf anderen Plattformen ab (Twitter, FB). Ärgerlich, daß die meisten Menschen ein momentan trendendes Wort (hier ist es Mastodos) aufschnappen und sich merken - und ähnlich klingende Wörter dann in dieselbe Erinnerungs-Schublade gesteckt werden. Und hat man dazu noch eine ablehnende Haltung, geht die Aufmerksamkeit vollends flöten.
