It's true!
I have Mastodon on one tab and twitter on the next.
I am truly a different person when I go from one to the other.
I become angry, sarcastic on twitter.
Calmer, more open, constructive here.
Amazing.

@PeteStrzok @adamdavidson I didn't realize how toxic the "quote tweet" is, but yowza, it really is indicative of a fundamental difference in mentality. I'm actually enjoying my time here.
I still can't look away from the car wreck though, it's really something to see.
Here less than a day and this place just feels nicer and so do I 😂
YES!
Pete, let's hope it stays that way on Mastodon (and this applies to all of us). I do wonder if there is something in the hyperreal nature of these rapid comms technologies that bypass critical and reflective though simply due to more cognitive effort being required.
For-profit social media companies want your engagement. If they have to make you angry to that? 🤷🏻♂️
Same. It's a noticable difference!
@PeteStrzok @adamdavidson I have noticed this exact phenomenon myself.
Twitter really trained us to be awful, didn't it?
I love it here too! Twitter is like a bunch of screaming children fighting on the playground and Mastodon is like a low key coffee shop.
Me too!

@PeteStrzok @adamdavidson Twit was built on conflict as its engagement model; Fediverse requires cooperation as its engagement model.
Trump was the exemplar of Twitter.
This is another way to engage. It's weird how normal I feel here, after the deliberately frenetic nature of Twitter. I am learning way more here, actually learning new and unexpected things, and finding jokes to make me laugh.
Happily, Pete, I just found you on Post as well and followed you there. Hope to see you posting on that platform as well.
It is very true, my 1st post here was concerning the other place and had to be retyped about 3 times and still is barely civil. Pete, I have followed you there for a long time and saw your post there the other day and that's why I am trying this. Seems nice, thanks.
