Lobster Dinner.

During a workshop in the summer, here on the Isle Of Mull, I spotted that the otter we were watching had caught something in the loch, and was swimming towards the shore.

I got my clients into a position where I hoped they'd get some images, and then lay down nearby.

The otter surprised me slightly by climbing ashore right in front of me! Thank goodness for silent cameras.

@petewalkden Lobster for lunch!
@AppalachianCrochet @petewalkden I was just gonna say!
@irenebal @petewalkden reminds me of the raccoons eating crawdaddies out of the creek behind my gma's house.
@petewalkden A one in a million shot, and well done! I can’t help feeling we live in a very cruel world though…

@petewalkden

And a blue lobster to boot! Aren't they supposed to be rare?

@petewalkden
Oh my word, Pete... Another! All I can say is, beyond a great eye for the beauty of nature, you must have the patience of a saint! ...Bravo 👏
@petewalkden love that perfect shot 🦞 dinner 😋

@petewalkden

I once, while leaning on a gate in Suffolk, heard a rustle to my right. There was a strong gale, blowing in my face. I looked down and an otter emerged from some shrubbery and sat on my right foot. She couldn't smell me and hadn't seen me.

Sadly, in such an exciting moment, I twitched and she was away down into the adjacent dyke, coming up some way away under a terrified Moorhen and then away again.

@petewalkden I believe they prefer eels and fish, so perhaps the lobster was a victim of an eel shortage?
@petewalkden Did one of the other otters bring the melted butter?
@petewalkden
Do otters eat sushi?
Does a bear shit right in front of my garage door?
@petewalkden amazing photo. Made me smile. Thank you
@petewalkden Spectacular photograph!😍

@petewalkden stunning photography. I adore Mull. My mother was born a McClean and i was told i could sign the clan book in Duart Castle. One of my proudest moments 💕
@petewalkden This photo may oddly solve a mystery that's bedeviled for years: How did humans know lobsters at the bottom of the sea were edible? Ans: Otters.
@petewalkden Uhh... lobster in a lake? Not fresh water? I know nothing. Loch is Lake to us Canadians right?
@advancehumanism There are both freshwater and tidal lochs here in Scotland. This one is tidal, hence is home to lobsters 🦞
@petewalkden Very interesting... thanks for the info.
@petewalkden Again! You’ve gotten an incredible image from nature as if you are just an inch in front of it! Amazing shot. The focus is amazing.
