Never got much traction on Twitter, so here goes on Mastodon: anyone who can speak English fluently, but also knows some #Greek, able to narrate an audio book? As itʼs a manʼs story in the first person, a voice identifying as male is preferred. Paid gig.

@jackyan I have a business contact from a few years ago who might be an option or contact if your still lucking out DN if suits
@julianwoodhouse Thank you, Julian. Got a few leads which is way more than the other site ever netted.
@jackyan Hi @FoxesandRoses - is this something that anyone you know might be interested in?
@jackyan one for you @cliffchapman ?
@Edent @jackyan I'd love to but the Greek seems important which may be an issue. Depends how much Greek is in there, I could always run stuff by Greek friends? Thanks for flagging it!
@cliffchapman @Edent Hi Cliff, please do run it by any Greek friends or colleagues. We’re not talking a huge amount. Of 130,000 words fewer than 1,000, at a guess. But there are some phrases that should be right, especially when the author quotes his mother.
@jackyan @Edent Cool. It would be great if you can DM me to discuss further or send me an email? I'd need to know the rates offered too, to make sure I can commit, but interested in principle :)
@jackyan have you tried putting a notice up at the Greek shop in Kilbirnie? There's a large Greek population in Eastern suburbs.
@Br3nda Thank you, but not out in my old ’hood much these days!
@jackyan might be interested, tell me more :)
@qwazix Hi Qwazix, thank you! This is for Panos Papadopoulos’s autobiography which came out in print form in May. The publisher says the fee is £750, the length is 130,000 words. There'd need to be a single audition of a passage that contains some Greek to record as a sound file and sent to me. Basically if the author is happy then that should be it. I'll step out and you'd deal directly with the publisher (London-based, it's LID Publishing).

@jackyan

Greetings, I am fluent in both languages (I'm bi-lingual), my gender is non-binary (I'm AMAB) and I have no experience in narration. I'm willing to try

@RazyDazzle Hi Razy, absolutely, would be happy to! Non-binary is AOK, we’re essentially after someone who can read and feel like the author’s conscience. I apologize for making the description limited. Let me DM you some info.
@jackyan Have you tried Fiverr? It’s been a huge help for me as a self-published author. Good luck!
@cooltxchick Thank you, Ty. Not yet, but getting some great responses here on Mastodon!
@jackyan hey @Jayce , you don't happen to know some Greek, do you? haha
@antimnguyen @jackyan I do not, lol. Thanks for hitting me up, though :-)
@Jayce @antimnguyen Thank you both for responding nonetheless!
@jackyan I speak English and some Greek but I'm not good at narrating, not my thing at all ... Anyway, I reblogged to amplify :)
@jackyan I know someone if you want to pass on your contact details.
@Kjun Absolutely, let me send you those now on DM. Thank you!
@jackyan Perhaps add wording such as “ευκαιρία εργασίας” (job opportunity) or the hashtag #Ελληνικά (Greek) to attract more Greek speakers. Δυστυχώς (unfortunately) I’m the wrong gender plus my Greek is fairly poor :)
@ozgrrl09 Thank you! Iʼm not by a computer at the moment but will do this when I am. Efharistou poli!

@donkey @jackyan

Is @SimonCHulse actually still here? I mean, he doesn't seem to have said anything since January 2020.

@jackyan @TMakarios @SimonCHulse good point - I did wonder - let me check with him via text.
@jackyan @SimonCHulse @TMakarios Simon just replied - he is dead keen
@donkey Cool, thank you. Had no idea he knew Greek! (And we have met IRL!) I have his number somewhere and can grab his email address. @SimonCHulse @TMakarios
@jackyan Nice ad, can you define this gig amount so I can share your ad to my male friends?
