I have to admit - I'm surprised by how vibrant this community is at such an early stage.
Tons of chat, tons of re-sharing content, and tons of mutual support.
It makes for a very relaxed and enjoyable Sunday evening. Big love to you all. ♥️

Now when I say "early stage" I of course mean for me (here less than two weeks) and the small community I, my #Bylines pals, and others in our pro-EU community hauled across here!
A massive thanks to those who came before and built the software, network of servers and tone/vibe of this place before my lot arrived!
@KesSmith
Soooo frustrating, isn't it?
Anyway - followed you back. 👍
Indeed, and those servers are all provided and managed by independent teams of volunteers, essentially *at their own expense*.
So to all new users like me, whichever instance of Mastodon you are on, go and find out how you can make a financial contribution to the upkeep of the servers you are using, and preferably make it a monthy donation. Unlike on commercial social media, users are not a product here, so if we don't all pay for it then it won't thrive.
Yes bravo 👍
Less volume traffic but boy, the quality of people and variety of views, calmly expressed, is so refreshing.
@boldgordo It's certainly very viable in parallel.
Already you can do battle in Twitter, but chillax with friends here. Definitely potential for building community and organising/mobilising.
Also - I reckon there's potential to do clever things, given the power to set up and configure servers. There can be new formats and offerings in this space. It feels rich for creativity and innovation. Don't know what that is yet - but I sense the potential.

I love the idea of server instances being specific or non-specific depending on what you're looking for.
