My boss, Matt Mullenweg, the boss of Automattic, owner of Tumblr, is looking for ex-Twitter employees for Tumblr, saying,

"we're putting on a fast track to see how they can help super-charge Tumblr. We can't absorb thousands of people, but I'd be open to hiring entire teams if they already work great together."

@mairin did you see what software is 4th place on the list of Fediverse servers? WordPress (as of now, that might change). I love that!

I have no idea about future plans to provide federated blogs at WordPress.com however.

@donncha What a wonderful idea, and I hope other companies follow suit. I would absolutely love it if various tech companies took on whole teams from Twitter. Having a good group of people to work alongside is so crucial for productivity and especially well-being. The folks wisely leaving Musk's self-arson-ed building don't deserve to have to start from scratch just because the company was purchased by someone with zero sense.

@donncha I’ve known Matt for years. The growth of Automattic has been phenomenal and a model for how an open source based business, run as a remote first business for years before the Pandemic, that has absorbed and acquired countless fantastic products over the years and integrated them well can succeed and prosper. It’s a model of company and business that is in many respects the antithesis of what we are seeing over at that bird site. A company I’d work for myself.

@donncha Matt has long been a good dude. It's so weird how many tech people I knew (quite a few who became ridiculously rich) when I lived in San Francisco in the 1990s. But Matt was one of the standouts, always sticking to his principles. So it's good to read this news.
