There are lots of tips floating about, but for starters, use #Hashtags, because they are how people find topics, and put alt text on pictures, because there are a lot of blind and partially sighted users on here. The CW in the post box is for content warnings,

Although a lot of us know who you are, it'd still be a great idea to write an introduction post (with hashtags), as is the custom here.
Oh, and it's better to link videos than upload them, as uploads go onto your instance (server) and your instance admin will have to pay for all that storage!

You can import most your fellow "follows" by using https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ yourself. It only needs read access to Twitter - then follow the instructions. That way you will have a more active and relevant 'Home' panel.
