Second #introduction now that I have lurked sufficiently. [revised]
I live in #Michigan with my lovely wife. One daughter. One living son. One dog. Currently trying to decide what I should do with my life. Retired 20 years ago due to illness. Some of my interests in the 1st intro.
This is my first go at the social media thing. Mastodon seems much more welcoming place than the others. Came here for the #Science and #Academia, stayed for the #Art, #Dogs, #BookHistory, #Comics, and #OxfordComma.
@jetton welcome; like your handle: reminds me of a Malcolm Muggeridge
@jetton Nooooo, not, the, Oxford, comma!!! ACCCKKKKK (running in horror).

@jetton Well hello and welcome Curmudgeon.
@jetton “…now that I have lurked suffiently.” Love this!🤣
@jetton
Welcome. I am from Australia and also retired 12 years for me…burnout and opportunity. The reason I am still alive today. So many things to learn about outside of a narrow but consuming work life. Something new everyday.

@jetton

Following. You had me at the Oxford Comma.

@jetton Ah, the #OxfordComma
A good reason to follow you! I mean, besides all the other amazingly awesome things in your bios!
@jetton I am already following you, but I will always follow anyone who mentions the #OxfordComma

@jetton The Oxford Comma made me chuckle, but what hit me first was 'one living son'. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot even fathom. 😢

And welcome to the neighborhood where you get to choose your neighbors. 🙂

@JulieB
Thank you for this. It's been a bit rough the past 4 months since his death.
I wrote a little bit about him starting in December--

I don’t normally post personal things, but today I want to share something. My younger son has finally been cleared to go to drug rehab, and will be transferred there from jail when space opens up. Likely within 2 weeks. He has been addicted to heroin and meth for a long time. For the first time in years I am cautiously optimistic. #recovery 1/2

@jetton Hello from another old. Learned to compute with an 037 and an IBM1620. Had a brief wave of nostalgia last year. Read up a bit on the old machine. Realized just how primitive it was.

Happy to have lasted thus long. What machines did you start with?
