Today was a wild day on #Twitter
@taylorlorenz This is just bizarre! I'm sure it's good for engagement.. right?
@Edent @taylorlorenz it's not the real brands, people are buying check marks and changing their profiles and tweeting this stuff

@darius Yes, I know.

I meant "This is driving lots of engagement to the Twitter website because people are watching a dumpster go on fire in real time. That's good in the short term, but probably not sustainable in the long term."

@Edent @darius itโ€™s the conversation right now for sure. Dead cat bounce?
@Edent ha, sorry. I deal with a lot of credulous people on the internet

@taylorlorenz

And he fired the people that could fix it!

@1231dev @taylorlorenz
I have friends in Twitter.
All the security team was fired. Like all of it! ๐Ÿคฃ

@taylorlorenz I wonder how much of this the red team Elon ignored predicted?

It seems like it's got to be pretty high, right? Like, all of this seemed...very predictable

@taylorlorenz

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

@taylorlorenz tbh Iโ€™m a little surprised how quickly itโ€™s gone to the dogs.
@MadSci @taylorlorenz well I am surprised by the speed!!

@taylorlorenz
I am hoping that Eli Lilly sues Twitter, and Biden's FTC investigates EM's international ties. He is clearly the inept, ruthless capitalist anyone could see from a mile away.

The worst part is that Twitter had become the preeminent home for authoritative voices across the world in a number of niches, channels, governments, and interests. This should be a wakeup call for anyone who seriously believes that anarchy is a good idea. People are better off reading a book these days.

@MattInCincy513 @taylorlorenz Don't know about Lilly but the FTC is watching it very closely and has stated that they're "deeply concerned". They don't fuck about. Twitter is already on a Consent Decree, and today, they missed filing a required report. You don't blow off the FTC like Elon does the SEC.
@nzlemming
I agree with you...Bankruptcy is a true possibility if the newly stated goal of 50% subscriptions doesn't materialize.
The government review cannot arrive soon enough.
So surreal on that app.
@MattInCincy513 It's crazy alright. And he can't say he wasn't warned. He's so out of touch with reality.
@MattInCincy513 @taylorlorenz lol what would Eli Lilly have to sue him over? It's the users who are responsible.

@MattInCincy513 @taylorlorenz
> This should be a wakeup call for anyone who seriously believes that anarchy is a good idea.

You... You... You're saying this on social media network that is anarchism in practice.

@Kichae
so people shouldn't talk about it, for fear that people are too dumb to know the difference between a discussion and encouragement. is that your point?

@MattInCincy513
How have you discussed it? You just raised the term, declared this to be a good example as to why anarchism bad, and done it in the most ironic way possible.

What was *your* point, exactly? What are *you* discussing? Because pretending you're contributing to some kind of discourse while just verbosely rolling your eyes isn't actually communicating anything of value.

@taylorlorenz interesting that the logo has been removed (DMCA take down?) but the tweet remains?!

@taylorlorenz This was so predictable. Musk is eitger a moron, or he is intentionally destroying Twitter.

Did the Saudiโ€™s pay him to just destroy the company?

@MGoCoder @taylorlorenz exactly. I want to know the same. Or was it political? Or both?
@taylorlorenz the place is being vandalized. Itโ€™s pretty sad (although occasionally also very funny)
@bbcmicrobot @taylorlorenz I did enjoy the Mario flipping the bird one ๐Ÿ˜‚
@taylorlorenz I will be amazed if Twitter is still be operational by the end of the year to be honest.

@Voyages1701 @taylorlorenz

oh the zombiefied corpse of this one will be around for years and years to come, passed off from one PE firm to another like somebody trying to show off a copy of The Ring before Samara crawls out of a TV.

Myspace is still around, after all.

@taylorlorenz It was predictable that this would happen
@taylorlorenz - have you seen the new SpaceX one? Absolutely dying ๐Ÿคฃ
@MattCuthbert @taylorlorenz hat tip to the people who did the Space X and Tesla ones. Hopefully they used methods to protect their identity. And hopefully the other brands sue the hell out of Twitter over brand damage.
@taylorlorenz With those blue ticks we don't even have to look very hard to find the fun. The algorithm brings it to the top.
@taylorlorenz Seriously, Musk should've done a little more due diligence before buying Twitter. This was predictable and very welcome.
@ThePsyOfLife @taylorlorenz
You mean any, right? He waived his right to DD...
@Kichae @taylorlorenz
It's like he'd never been on the site before having bought it.
@taylorlorenz it's such a blatant effort by EM to dismantle the platform. I hope the investors whose money he's wasting refuse to ever have anything to do with him again.

@shork @taylorlorenz

Hanlon's razor comes into play, I think. EM truly thought he had easy fixes and probably has `good' intentions (from the EM perspective), only it turns out it isn't so easy.

Look at the monstrosity that is the CyberTruck, which was the bellwether. It's clear that Elon is surrounded by sycophants who coddle whatever irrational notions he has.

@taylorlorenz aipac account is so liar they said there is air line between there and Qatar
for world cup while there is no official declaration from Qatar about that
@taylorlorenz Dibs on NFTing the Chiquita tweet!
@taylorlorenz its been a fever dream for sure
@taylorlorenz it's a 21st century eat the rich billionaire taste test smorgasbord on Twitter today.
@taylorlorenz this is glorious. Well done people.
@taylorlorenz isโ€ฆ is that something that would make those brands advertise on Twitter?
@taylorlorenz $8 for a verification checkmarkโ€ฆ what could possibly go wrong? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ #predictable
@taylorlorenz the unhinged comedy of it is so wonderful. 44 billion dollar shitpost and its beautiful
