I haven't been able to play much guitar in the past 6 months; I dusted my acoustic off last night and practiced, and then tonight I recorded an old English folk number. Just sharing in case anyone needs the distraction.🎸

Masks work to significantly lower the risk of Covid infection
"A CDC study of mask wearers in California last year found that KN95 or N95 masks lowered a person's odds of testing positive for Covid by 83%"

(This result was statistically significant)

New York and LA meet CDC criteria for masking in public. How much will masks help this winter?

The CDC recommends that people in New York and Los Angeles wear masks indoors. Masks still prevent infection, even if people don't wear them all the time.

what is Qatar going to do with the 7 new stadiums and 1 renovated, which it built for a 29-day World Cup?

Testing is our friend this winter, as many restrictions have been relaxed, and it is on us all to be safe + mindful of our health and the wellbeing of others in our circles and community, overall.

www.Covidtests.gov is offering 4 at-home tests, completely free for anyone who requests them through the website.

Advice for at-home Covid tests & detecting the omicron variant this winter:
When testing yourself for Covid, one practice that medical centers noticed was useful last winter (2021-22) when the omicron variant was first being seen--is to swab the throat first, then each nostril (in that order).

At-home rapid tests are more likely to detect the presence a covid infection when the throat is swabbed along with each nostril, than just the nostrils alone.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/16/health/bivalent-boosters-vaccine-effectiveness-studies

The Covid vaccine protectiveness effect underestimation is due to low representation of people who had the bivalent booster in the study data--meaning that even with a lower total of bivalent boosted participants, there was a strong effect in the data shown for protection, & a larger number of participants would increase statistical power and likely drive up the percentage of study participants who did not need hospitalization or urgent care service for Covid infection.

Well, all I can say about the military stripping away a vaccine mandate is that there will be more claims for disability, unbeknownst to those claimants tonight.

The United States owes a deep debt of gratitude to Dr. Anthony #Fauci. The states that made the best attempts to follow Fauci's advice in relation to the pandemic have a much lower COVID death rate than those states that did not. #TheDataDoNotLie, but the owner of the #BirdSite does.
