Congratulations to @johnonolan and the team at Ghost on their 12th birthday! Here's John's post reflecting on the idea behind the product, some of the incredible indie publishers who have adopted it (including @404mediaco, @caseynewton's Platformer, and @drownedinsound) and what's next.

Whoops. Forgot about Mastodon.
How’s everyone doing over here? Is this where the planning to over throw the govt is taking place? And lots of nice nature photos? Much music chat going on?
What’s good?
Confession:
This week, I snapped
For the third time in a week someone said “it’s a shame DrownedinSound is not still going” 🤦
But it is as a podcast & newsletter, so I need your help to reconnect to the 3m who read DiS
Please repost this and/or tell a music loving friend http://www.drownedinsound.org
People have spent over a decade building a following and engaging an audience on Twitter and I’m sure there is a collective and personal process of grief occurring for that disconnection.
All that time and energy spent building something and realising it’s a sandcastle that will be washed away by the oblivious tide.
For many, that audience was a part of our business. It was also our social circles and a hivemind connection to the world.

📧 Where is everyone considering moving to from Substack?
That illogical statement about continuing to monetise nazis is grim.
I’m thinking of trying Ghost but need to research the people behind it and the cost for our newsletter and some of my artists.
Any thoughts on Octopus, Wordpress or…?
Season two of the Drowned in Sound podcast is all about the future of music journalism
With media in peril, I’ve spoken to fellow website founders, tech writers, climate critics, TikTokkers and more
