All three books I've co-authored are freely available online for non-commercial use:

#Bayesian Data Analysis, 3rd ed (aka BDA3) at https://stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/book/ and lectures plus #rstats, #Python and #Stan code at https://avehtari.github.io/BDA_course_Aalto/

#Regression and Other Stories at https://avehtari.github.io/ROS-Examples/ including #rstats and #Stan code

Active Statistics at https://avehtari.github.io/ActiveStatistics/

The websites also have links to the publishers' web stores if you prefer hard copies of these

@avehtari I knew about BDA, but didn't know "Regression and Other Stories" was also free online. That's amazing; thanks!
@avehtari Great, I like the Regression book a lot!
@avehtari BDA is one of my favorite book about Bayesian statistics. Highly recommended 👍🏼 I didn’t know about “Regression and other stories” — I’ll add it to my reading list.
@avehtari I loved the ROS! I’ve been periodically checking for the past 2 years if the part 2 has been released (Multilevel modelling). I’d be happy to read through any pre-release versions to help find typos. EDIT: Apologies for the accidental double post, I’m still figuring out Mastodon.
@svilupp Part 2 will be delayed a lot as we've been working on other book projects
@avehtari that’s a shame, but I’ll be looking forward to your other projects 🤩
@svilupp likewise I've been looking forward to Part 2 but I'll have to update my posterior on when that will be available. Thanks for all the work you put out @avehtari !!
@avehtari What career stage are these books appropriate for? I've been looking for a regression/linear model based book to use for teaching undergraduates for years.

@smwadgymar

ROS focuses on regression models, the maths and computation have minimal role, and thus can be suitable for undergrads in many fields.

BDA3 assumes the students already know some stats, integration, programming, and overall it's not the easiest book to start with, but some of our data science BSc major students are taking my course using the book.

For learning Bayes, I can also recommend Bayes Rules! https://www.bayesrulesbook.com/ and Statistical Rethinking https://xcelab.net/rm/statistical-rethinking/

Bayes Rules! An Introduction to Applied Bayesian Modeling

An introduction to applied Bayesian modeling.

@avehtari This is amazing! Thank you for making these available.
@avehtari This is amazing, thanks for making these openly available!
@avehtari Awesome, I didn't know that ROS was also freely available - looking forward to reading it!
@avehtari ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🙏🏼🙏🏼
@avehtari omg these are amazing. Thank you 🥰
@avehtari love regression and other stories!
@avehtari BDA is a classic! Have been meaning to look at the other one for a while but it hasn't percolated to the top of my reading pile yet.
@avehtari These are excellent resources- using them on my graduate stats course this semester.
@avehtari That red book has been on—and sometimes off—the shelf in my office bookcase for years!
@avehtari
👍 . I am a big fan of both books. A short question: any news on the new edition of "Applied Regression and Multilevel Models" ?
@MikeMugabushaka Two other books in queue before that, so ARMM will not be ready before 2024
@avehtari That's very useful. These are great books. Thanks very much!
