#Introduction

Super excited to announce my new project, DEAF FUTURITY.

This #project examines the #design and #engineering of #HearingAids , from aesthetics of 20th century devices, to new prototypes that attempt to redesign how we think of #deafness, and deaf/tech collaborations.

This interdisciplinary project merges academia & tech with history & art, centering predominately on deaf users & designers.

DEAF FUTURITY is still at the early stages but I will be discussing it briefly at @[email protected]๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

@jaivirdi I'm not seeing/missing instructions on birdsite of how to join. Would you maybe have a link by any chance? I'd love to listen, if possible.
@andreamm it's at a conference, the society for the history of technology, and alas, not a public panel.

This interdisciplinary project merges #academia & #tech with #history & #art, centering predominately on #deaf users & #designers.

I'm briefly discussing this at the meeting of #SHOT -- the Society for the History of Technology later this week. If you're attending the meeting, do join us!

@jaivirdi !!! This looks SO COOL!!
@jaivirdi. This sounds (and looks) great!
@jaivirdi This is awesome! I'll have to get hearing aids at some point, and I'm really interested in your project!
@jaivirdi gorgeous! This feels like the movement of glasses from nerd uglifiers to fashion statement
@jaivirdi I meant to say these are AMAZING, not โ€˜smilingโ€™. ๐Ÿ˜‚ *shakes fist at autocorrect*
@loreleiking They could be SMILING too ๐Ÿ˜‚
@jaivirdi great project! Looking forward to see updates
@jaivirdi This is very exciting! Super interested in the topic of new ways to think about hearing aid design and the impact novel design and U.S. deregulation might have on accessibility, stigma, etc.
@gemmapetrie yes!! Very excited about this project!
