@Gargron It's farcical how they claim, Mastodon suppresses 'normal' voice? So it means who?🤔
May be, Its Castiest, Racist, Xenophobes who are trying to 'normalize' hate!
@ice @Gargron @Mastodon @torproject
Too many restrictions would suppress, morale of people, whether over internet or in ground reality. Ever since last few years, individual rights hardly hold any meaning. Though, people are trying their best to be vocal about such impositions.
Migrating here, over other platforms was because of these reasons but it seems, majoritarian regime didn't like it. So, they might plan a crackdown.
@kushal @BhavanaVarun it is however very interesting that "ban this site" as a first reaction is now very normalised and I daresay, acceptable. This is likely a nominal fallout of the high number of internet access bans which have become the stock response to any threats of incidents.
It isn't too far away that VPN traffic would be banned too. Nothing essentially prevents such a low hanging fruit decision to be made.
I am sure they will try to do that and then we will have bigger fights. All of those people taking client calls from home will also be affected in most cases.

#KashmirStillUnderSiege This is how they talk about peace & normalcy.
Scary! Internet Shutdown and Mass surveillance. India seems to top the list. Why the govt. is so obsessed with it?
They'd also have to ban every other kind of server that federates with Mastodon and behaves the same way: Friendica, Pleroma, Epicyon, Osada - and then there are things like peertube for videos and pixelfed for images and funkwhale for music... all those federate and 'talk' to each other. i.e. if you are on mastodon, you may follow someone on any of the other platforms (and vice versa).
