Zōjōji is an ancient Buddhist temple in the middle of Tokyo. During the Edo period, it served the Tokugawa shōguns, and many of the buildings and monuments on the grounds speak to this rich historic legacy. Today, though, it is closely associated with its neighbor Tokyo Tower, the two collaborating to create one of the capital’s most iconic sites.
