I stopped to get gas today, behind a truck with a UP bumper sticker. I set the gas going and call to the guy ahead of me: "You from the UP, or just a fan?" He looks confused; I point to the sticker. "Oh, that. No, I'm from Michigan though. Ann Arbor." Me: "I grew up in the UP." Him: "It's beautiful up there, but so cold." As we're talking, it's 45 F, he's dressed in jeans and a jacket and a hat; I'm there in T-shirt, shorts, sandals. He looks at me and just shakes his head. #yooper #today
