Dear Friends of the whigs/liberal elite,

Talking about the history of third parties in the USA I always get into debates with people over whether the Republican Party in the 1850s counted as a successful third party. I don't think so, but it's tricky. Here's why: https://youtu.be/Kg0VEWZ6ai0?si=oNCyC_LfyV6ARVkz

Postscript: Was the Republican Party ever a third party?

"Just as Congress mandated the single-member district in 1842 to eliminate the hyper-majoritarianism of multimember districts with bloc voting, the Congress of today must take the next step towards fairness and proportionality by mandating proportional multimember districts. This is the natural evolution of American politics."

#Democrats is this your party? This is a good argument for yours being the party that must go the way of the #whigs, which is needed before anything positive happens in the United States. Because right now, you are 98% ineffective against #fascism and apparently fighting to stay that way.

If David Hogg gets thrown out of the party for trying to save it, I will join whatever party he starts.

#KenMartin should resign.

I have said it for a long time, this country does not change until either of our two major political parties goes the way of the #whigs. #Democrats look like they will fold up their tent and recess into history first. Forget fighting #Trump, have to get an opposition party first. We can create a new social safety net in 50 years. New job for the left of center, and the center for that matter, is to primary feckless Democrats. #uspol

'Deep sense of outrage and betrayal'

The last time a monarch dissolved the #houseofcommons other than on the advice of the #primeminister was in the 1830s. William the Fourth regretted this because the voters were so disobliging as to return the same majority party - the #Whigs . No monarch has dared to do so since - and Charles the Third is most unlikely to. If he were to do it the Supreme Court would most likely declare it unlawful and void as with #prorogation in 2019.

Been seeing a lot of fear and consternation on here about the two party system in the U.S.A. and the potential to waste votes during an important election.

I wanted to take a longer term view about this, starting with what happened in the United Kingdom yesterday.
