"Those big grey fellas with tusks - you ever seen them before?"

In 218 BC, during the Second #PunicWar, general #Hannibal #Barcas #crossed the #Alps from Spain to Italy with up to 70,000 soldiers to attack on Rome. According to historical accounts, he also led 37 #warelephants. R.M.Martínez Sánchez et al. (2026) discovered a right #carpalbone of a war elephant near #Cordoba,#Spain, possibly the first scientific evidence for the Hannibal context.

You may be aware that the game of #chess started in India in the sixth century A.D. The game took several centuries to be adopted into its current European form.

In the original version, some of the pieces moved differently, but the biggest difference in my opinion was the use of #WarElephants rather than #Rooks !
