Ok received the replacement, updated it and the TTS also is screwed up but somehow not as badly, and it's faster overall than my 2021 Paperwhite so I'm not unhappy. What I was unhappy about was having to call #Amazon to get the ads I had already paid to not have removed, after finding out that #Kindle ads cannot be closed with #Voiceview meaning #Blind users are forced to pay to be able to use their devices. @nationsblind should speak with Amazon about this.
So #Amazon have outdone themselves again, my 2021 #Kindle Paperwhite SE is unusable with #Voiceview because the TTS is garbled compressed electronic sounding crap apparently due to the 5.18.1 update that I did not even know it was receiving. I have reported it but doubt they'll do shit about it. #Accessibility #Blind #ScreenReader

Lol.
Me to #VoiceView on my #FireTVStick after starting a show on #Netflix: "Stop talking!"
My stepdad from across the house: "What?"
Me: "Oh nothing, just yelling at my Fire TV because the #ScreenReader won't shut up and I'm trying to hear my show."

@mastoblind @main

just for fun I thought I'd ask my fellow #blind, #deafblind, 'and #visuallyimpaired people what #books you all are #reading currently, and what format, audio, #braille, or print. @mastoblind

I'm reading North Queen by Nicola Tyche on my kindle with #voiceview, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on my braille display.

As it has been a while and I could have done this better last time here’s my #introduction. I’m a #blind #parent, #braille user, and #musician. I have been blind for 5 years, learned braille over the last 3 years, and spend most of my time juggling being a stay at home dad, and staff for #OurBlind, mainly on our Discord and the r/blind subreddit. I also read a lot, mainly fantasy, mostly on my #kindle with the #voiceview #screenreader, though also read on a #Brailledisplay.

anyone currently using #Netflix on #FireTV stick? for some reason #VoiceView is not reading the entire app, making it completely inaccessible. #Accessibility #Blind #Blindness #Amazon
@hn50 @ke7zum Could that be why #VoiceView StopSpeakingLastNightWhenIOpenNetflix?
Hi, Here's a question for my blind followers. I just started using Netflix on an Amazon Fire TV 4K Stick using #VoiceView. The Netflix app seems to be kind of selv voicing, however the Netflix Playback settings seem to be inaccessible. I tried to switch to the audiotrack with #Audiodescription but all what VoiceView is saying is "Object". Is there a way to get arround this?
Hmmm, So, apparently, if I try accessing Alexa using the #FireTV remote app, it kills my sounds, or at least, my Voiceover went bye bye, until I hit the home button on the phone. Plus, there seems to be no way to activate #VoiceView using the app, being that one has to, with the regular remote, hold back and menu down for two seconds, and this app just has buttons that you double tap on that are essentially the same as the basic remote.
