As a child I had a Winnie the Witch (or "Hennie de heks" in Dutch) video game that I absolutely loved. I only realised much later that it was based on a picture book. I finally read Winnie the Witch a couple of years ago and I loved seeing all the detailed illustrations that I remembered from the game, especially all the different rooms in the house.
This later book, Winnie And Wilbur: The Monster Mystery, is entirely set outside in the garden and forest. What stood out to me in the illustrations was the play with direction (several pages have to be turned sideways to be read) and illustrations that crossed the page fold without covering the entire double-page spread. Just as the first book, this was a lovely read and I will definitely be picking up the other parts of the series!
