NRC shortwave station broadcasts (CHU) - National Research Council Canada

Time accuracy superior to telephone time accuracy is available throughout Canada and in many other parts of the world by means of NRC's radio time signals broadcast continuously from short wave radio station CHU. If corrections are made for the propagation delay from CHU to the user, and for delays in the user's receiver, an accuracy of better than 1 ms can be obtained. Signal availability at a user's location depends on ionospheric conditions. CHU also broadcasts a time code which can be decoded with common computers and modems.

Hatte überlegt, ob lch #WriteFreely auf meinem Server installiere. Es soll ja soooooo einfach sein. Aber für #MySQL soll ich #UTC als Timzone einstellen und zudem "latin1-swedish-ci" aktivieren? Was soll ich mit Schwedisch? Kommt nicht infrage.

Wahrscheinlich funktioniert's eh nicht, weil ich kein #go am Laufen habe und nie haben werde.

Dann eben nicht.

I'm finding myself in a discussion that a partner expects their system to run in local timezone (Europe/Berlin), while we sysadmins have configured the whole fleet as UTC (as one should do).
I remember an article that explains why, for SQL servers, #UTCorGTFO. The latter has obviously a wide audience ( https://wiert.me/2022/11/08/utc-and-iso-8601-or-gtfo/, https://www.netmeister.org/blog/ops-lessons.html), but I fail to find any structured reasoning why UTC is the best choice.

For your information, currently I am in UTC+08:00 or MSK+5. Later I will move to UTC+07:00 or MSK+4. It is the most populous time zone in the world, mainly due to China's large population and using only one time zone. In Indonesia it is called as Central Indonesian Time or WITA. MSK, if you don't know, a short for Moscow Time.
