Love this spirelet on Saint Mungo's Church in the Townhead area of Glasgow, with fish-scale bands and topped by an ornate iron cross with a rather unusual heart-shaped nimbus. The church was built in 1841 in an Italianate Gothic style from a design by George Goldie.

The Collins Street Sundial in the Townhead area of Glasgow. It may seen surprising, but Scotland had amongst the highest number of sundials in the 17th and 18th centuries. This includes obelisk sundials which were unique to Scotland. Like this newer one, many of these older sundials had multiple gnomons, the official name for the bit which casts the shadow onto the dial.

Saint Mungo's church and retreat on Parson Street in the Townhead area of Glasgow. The church was built in 1841 and the retreat in 1890. The shadow is that of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's 1895 Martyr's School, and you can just make out the outline of one of its distinctive roof vents on the red sandstone of the retreat.

An ecclesiastical mask on St Mungo's Church on Parson Street in the Townhead area of Glasgow. The church was designed by George Goldie, and was originally built in 1841. I've always presumed it represents St Mungo, but I'm in no way certain about this. Whoever it is, he doesn't look like someone you'd want to get on the wrong side of.

The Sighthill Pedestrian Bridge, better known as the Rusty Bridge. Installed in 2023, it connects Sighthill with central Glasgow across the M8 motorway, which has represented a major barrier to the free and easy movement of people around the city since it was built in the 1960s.

The Circle Monument to Charles Rennie Mackintosh in the Townhead area of Glasgow, where he was born in 1868. Originally, it contained a stylish Mackintosh-inspired metal insert in the central bit which was lit from below. However, this has since disappeared, leaving a slightly confusing and uninspiring empty ring with no obvious link to the great man.
