One possible response is "too much." US private AI investment reached $285.9B in 2025, according to Stanford HAI's 2026 #ArtificialIntelligence Index. Money has economic benefits but also adds stress to environmental resources, utilities & communities.

These companies are measuring input.

How many tokens are you consuming as a proxy for output, how much value are you creating. And those two things have no guaranteed relationship.

This is like rewarding your sales team not for how many houses they sold, but for how much petrol they burned driving to meetings.

The top performer isn't the one who closed the most deals, it's the one who drove the most miles.

The leaderboard tracks fuel consumption, but nobody is tracking revenue.

Y'a un nom pour cette "loi" mais j'ai oublié

Ich falle immer wieder drauf rein. Da ich die Workspace Edition von Google nutze, sind die Preise immer ohne MwSt aufgeführt. Also zahle ich momentan für #Gemini nicht 15 sondern über 18€ pro Monat für Gemini. Ok, um das auszugleichen, muss ich dann wohl #tokenmaxxing betreiben. 🤣

Dem Bericht zufolge kämpfen viele Unternehmen derzeit damit, dass ihre KI-Ausgaben nicht in erkennbare Rendite münden. Mitarbeiter nutzen Tools teils für Aufgaben ohne Wert für das Unternehmen, andere übertreiben den Token-Verbrauch gezielt, um interne Leistungsziele zu erfüllen. Dieses Muster hat inzwischen einen Namen: Tokenmaxxing.
