One of the things I try to do in each #guitar #practice session is to finish it looking forward to the next one. I try to always have something in my mind to try out and improve next time, like a song, an idea, a lick, or an exercise. It's also great to end the session with something you like and feel good playing, and not to overdo it. In the end, it's the consistency that will make you better. It's practicing day after day after day. A single session is *almost* irrelevant. #tilwp
One of the things I find more challenging about practicing #guitar (or anything) is to set the difficulty just right. Too hard/fast and you're basically learning mistakes and not improving. Too easy/slow and you're just relaxing and not improving at all. Growth happens when you have to focus to perform it well, but it is still within your reach. That's why it's so important, in music and in life, to choose the right projects and goals. But when in doubt, make it easy for yourself. #tilwp
I've been practicing #guitar again consistently for two to three hours a day, seven days a week, since August. Practicing as in learning new material, improvising and working on technique. This excludes time spent playing live in concerts, rehearsing, teaching. It's been a humbling experience and very, very fulfilling. I'm thinking on sharing some thoughts and "things I learn when practicing" - #tilwp - about #practice and #learning in general, not just guitar. If you're interested follow #tilwp
