The tide was very far out when we visited Ballycotton last week, so I wandered out on the rocks, carefully avoiding the slippery seaweed, and took a few photos.

Am Rauðasandur färbt eisenhaltiger Sand den Strand rötlich, was in Island selten ist. Hinter der Sandbank entsteht bei Flut eine Lagune, die sich eigentlich zum Paddeln eignen sollte. Nur habe ich die Gezeiten falsch eingeschätzt: das Wasser zieht sich zurück, und die Lagune ist heute zu flach fürs Packraft. „Talking my boat for a walk“ statt zu paddeln.
