🚨 BREAKING: Activists from Scientist Rebellion are confronting German finance minister Christian Lindner with his refusal to effectively adress the #ClimateEmergency and #BiodiversityCrisis. „Science is being ignored, FDP destroys!“

While people in the Global South are already suffering and dying from climate change, the German "Umweltrat" has declared that Germany's remaining carbon budget for 1.5 degrees is already used up.

Lindner's party FDP continues to categorically block any effective climate policy on the national and EU level. Instead, they are working on policies to benefit the super rich – those that will suffer the least from climate crisis.

The FDP-lead transport ministry refuses to expand public transport and plans almost 1000 km of new highways. Lindner himself is cutting down on public spending meant to support a just transition to green infrastructure.

#TheScienceIsClear. The age of fossil fuels and combustion engines has to end! Get car and fossil fuel lobbyists out of politics!

It’s time to end neoliberal, extractivist policies and stop relying on imaginary miracle technologies to solve climate crisis! Only radical political change and degrowth in the Global North can ensure a livable world for future generations!

More and more activists are facing judges and are trialed for their "crimes" – fighting for a liveable planet for all of us. For many judges we are nothing but a nuisance, case closed. Dare to take a stance, #FaceTheFacts! Here are some quotes from previous trials👇

The scientists pasted scientific papers on the walls of the Henry Ford Building of the #FUBerlin to denounce the ties between research and fossil fuel corporates, who drive us to disaster. (2/11)

The scientific community must take a clear stance on these ties. Science isn’t neutral - we can’t have climate change on the program but receive money from @wintershalldea and RWE

"While the climate crisis is escalating, Wintershall & RWE are using scientific conferences for greenwashing and recruiting new staff. We need to realize that their profits are all our losses." says Dr. Lorenzo Perrone, astrophysicist.

The action happened during a Wintershall event on CO2-Injection. The total global capacity of carbon capture facilities is currently half of the 80 Mt of CO2 that Wintershall emits annually.

In the best case scenario, only in 2026 the global capacity will compensate for the combined emissions of RWE and Wintershall, and that leaves aside all other global CO2 emissions.

There is no chance of getting to the amount of capture required in the Net Zero scenario. We need decarbonization and focus on human and environmental well-being. We cannot carbon capture our way out of the crisis: we need a system change!

Wintershall is planning consistent expansion, especially in GS countries. In Tierra del Fuego, their plant is expected to deliver significant volumes of natural gas for more than 15 years, starting 2025. Is this a decarbonization strategy?

In January RWE destroyed the town of Lützerath to expand a coalmine. #TheScienceIsClear: Wintershall and RWE plans to continue extraction and explorations are incompatible with the safe boundaries of Earth's climate. @LuetziBleibt

Having sessions on the climate crisis and receiving money from Wintershall and RWE are incompatible. Scientists have to recognize their privilege and refuse any support for events that stand side by side with fossil fuel companies.

The fossil fuel industry has delayed energy transition through lobbying and disinformation campaigns. Their business model is pushing our planet beyond the edge of what is safe. We have the responsibility of calling out their crimes!
