The Marx Brothers began their performing life as teenagers in the early 1900s. After success in Vaudeville & Broadway they made their way into film. By the time “The Cocoanuts”(1929) was made most of The Marx Bros.were in their early 40s/late 30s!

There were 5 Marx Brothers: Chico, Harpo, Groucho, Gummo AND Zeppo Marx. Their film work was mostly comprised of Chico, Harpo, Groucho & Zeppo while Gummo went on to be a successful entertainment agent & businessman. Zeppo would also leave film work to join Gummo in entertainment management & also his personal work in inventing/engineering things

My Facebook comment asked who remembered the time when the Latchis was operated, in the 1970s, as the Capra Theatre. It ran double features of classic movies. Some favorites included Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, and the Marx Brothers. We used to watch from the balcony but it seems to me the balcony may have been closed before the Capra run ended. Planet of the Apes drew the biggest crowds but I skipped that one.
