Director Edward F. Cline was originally a vaudevillian who began working as an actor and gag writer for Keystone. He’d later go on to on to team up with with Buster Keaton both in films and as a director (Convict 13, The Boat, The Haunted House, etc.) It was his work with Keaton that inspired W.C. Fields to take a shine to his directing work.

#comedon yknow there’s something to movies not having background music constantly that I appreciate

I’ve heard that it’s a pretty American phenomenon where movies have some sort of musical cue every 30 seconds or so, I’m guessing that wasn’t established yet in this time in Hollywood. Or maybe being #PreCode there was less of a sense of conformity

Hey all, #comedon night is happening this Thursday at 7pm PT

This week we are going way back to a #PreCode comedy, Hook, Line, & Sinker(1930)! Precode movies are films from after audio was added and before the #HaysCode became enforced, so movie makers were more free to explore different topics.
