In general it's gonna be a very #techsolutionist era for a long time, not least because #techsolutionism is a great way to hide grifts.
Also though when we do eventually have to face the fact that climate change is real & is fucking us, we'll be so far down its gullet that our only hope will be large-scale #geoengineering solutions. (FTR I despise geoengineering & think most large scale GE soltuiosn are more likely to kill us all than the climate change.)

Nuclear power will boom, OTOH, because it's a #techsolutionist poster child.
(If y'all wanna get into the risk profile feel free, just, in advance, I'll probably stay out of it.)
I actually think federated social media (e.g. the #fediverse) could finally deliver on that promise of massively distributed human action. One of the things that could kill it would be unrealistic #TechSolutionist expectations - like '#spam & #fedispam will be magically fixed by technology.'
#TechSolutionism

#Mastodon & the adjacent #Fediverse aren't exactly anti-#TechSolutionist, but they are clearly designed with the limitations of tech-solutionism in mind.

Mastodon specifically, & most of what we think of as the Fediverse generally, are BY DESIGN predicated on the principle that the appropriate solutions are ultimately cultural & behavioral, not technical. But so many folks still slip into a #TechSolutionism trap.
