I've been coached on my messaging more than once, usually right after I told my team a truth leadership wanted kept quiet.
Once I was told to stay silent while the work my team had been grinding on for months got quietly scrapped upstairs. I told them anyway. Trust is the only thing on a team that compounds, and spin your people once and they stop believing you, including the good news.
The ability to communicate tradeoffs in language that doesn’t require a deep technical background is a real skill.
