@dennyhenke I absolutely agree that we need to crack down on the excesses and behavior of BigTech. The move fast and break things then ask for forgiveness later garbage was always wrong and should have been stopped long ago. Silicon Valley has changed since I got involved with it quite a while ago, so much so, that I no longer want anything to do with Silicon Valley and big tech, in general, work wise.

Hopefully, the EU and Canada can lead the way to viable open source alternatives to Microsoft, Facebook, social media and the like. I’d like to see the US and state governments drop MS for #LibreOffice, for example. That move would make it easier for a wider public shift.

I have to say that I’m a big Apple products fan. That’s why I’m so disappointed with Tim Cook. Maybe there are other things going on within Apple as you say of which I’m not aware. That would not be good either.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO is causing serious harm to Apple’s brand.

Cook’s presence at the White House screening of Melania on Saturday should be the last straw for Apple shareholders and the Apple Board of Directors. There is nothing to justify his presence other than sheer clueless stupidity.

Cook is harming Apple’s brand through his association with Trump. Cook’s actions:
- Personally gave $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee
- Apple/Cook is/has donated to Trump’s ballroom
- Cook attempting to curry favors from Trump with trivial gifts and attendance at Mara Lago and the WhiteHouse

Cook’s actions will not benefit Apple. Association with Trump always leads to negative outcomes and will only harm Apple’s brand.

There’s no excuse or justification for Cook’s actions. It’s time for Tim Cook to go.

Coraz częściej wskazuje się Johna Ternusa jako naturalnego następcę Cooka, ale analitycy podkreślają, że Cook prawdopodobnie nie opuści sceny tak szybko. Wariant, który dotąd rzadko brano pod uwagę: model dwóch CEO.

Przykłady z Netflixa, Oracle czy Spotify pokazują, że takie podejście może działać, jeśli obowiązki są jasno podzielone. W tym przypadku Ternus zarządzałby firmą od środka, a Cook nadal prowadziłby relacje z rządem USA, gdzie jego pozycja jest wyjątkowo silna.

Co-CEO byłoby ryzykowne dla Ternusa — mogłoby wyglądać jak brak zaufania — ale pozwoliłoby Apple utrzymać stabilność polityczno-biznesową w trudnym okresie.
