At the Sydney rd Accessible Tram Stops rally today in Coburg. A good turnout in the rain. We handed out leaflets and talked to people about the problem of accessible transport for people when the Upfield line is closed for level crossing removals in 2028.

We're waiting at Brunswick Rd tram stop for an accessible tram to do leafleting of people on the tram. We've been waiting for 20mins, only 10mins to go.

Music in the side streets and the carpark the council recently turned into a park for people is really going off.

Almost all the shops on Sydney Rd have street frontage of less than the length of 1 car park (the widest shops 2).
You can park for an insane 2 hours during the week...on Sunday (today) you can just park all day.

There were at least 10 people in that ChaTime and the car out the front could have been parked there all day.

For additional stupid the parking is a clearway during peak times which means you can't stop to pick something up when you're driving to or from work. So the shops don't get anything from most of the car traffic.

Sydney Rd is clearly a street designed around trams that has been slowly strangled by cars over the last 50yrs.

Such fun on the Critical Mass bike ride yesterday

For those that aren’t aware, the Brunswick and Coburg communities have been calling for accessible tram stops and separated bike lanes on Sydney rd for about 15 years now and action taken by government has been el nothing.

19,000 cars and 7,200 bikes use Sydney rd and the Upfield path each day but infra is only designed for cars
