The very grey and plain stone is never submerged within the quarry. The slightly pinkish stone with some lichen is occasionally submerged and the very green is always submerged.

As I think I've mentioned, I'm currently working on a project that looks in some detail at the landscape we trample over and across.

I find that moorlands are particularly good at making you search out the horizon, look across the vast, often very wet, bogland that you are struggling across.

Yet there's so much going on around our feet.

Water detail as it flows across rocks in the Dark Peaks.
