Is a "Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope" the same as a SEM electron microscope? Or are these two different things?
Cause I just found someone talking about having 10nm Z-Axis and 120nm XY-Axis resolution using a Olympus LEXT OLS 4100.
And from what I read earlier this should be below what is physically possible with "white light".
That would be perfect for reading a shattered blue-ray...
Edit: No, they just use violet light. That explains it...
Anyone know how to take pictures of UV light?
Kinda want to add a few UV LEDs to a microscope. And because you can't just look through it directly I'd need a camera that can "see" UV for me.
(Note, I'm talking at home "diy" science experiments here. So don't be surprised why I don't just use an electron microscope or something)

I inherited my father in law's excellent dissecting microscope and am enjoying it with abandon!! Voici a view of the surface of one of my seedling pots, complete with a springtail busily going about his important work, eating up (processing) the rotten bits to turn into plant nutrients! Progress on the #frankenscope. Since all the software is networked, I just moved the scanning stack onto a cube PC. The machine is connected via one of our edge routers to 5G, and sits in a #tailscale/#headscale network.
That turns it into a fully remote operated #microscope. I can explore the slide, mark an extent, start a scan and monitor the progress.
Currently I am still tuning the scanning process, which seems to be ever so slightly running away from what should be a mechanical endstop. Then some traveling, and still crossing fingers for some more content to #setzkasten soon.
