Finishing some runtime system work; decided to try a #deskpi #super6c cluster board.

An ITX form factor beowulf cluster is amazing.

#slurm & #nfs worked out of apt.

#ucx, #openmpi, #openshmem, #openpmix, #gasnet, & #hpx needed custom compilation.

After playing with #HomeAssistant for a couple of weeks, I have moved it to my permanent automation server. It will live along #NodeRED, #Grafana #Postres #InfluxDB nodes on #Super6C - a #ComputeModule4 cluster I dedicated to home automation:

I have this mad idea! I have an unpopulated #Super6C board, and I'm tempted to turn it into a web server with CDN and load balancing to potentially self-host. If #RaspberryPi4 launch was possible on 17 boards, I could host my page on 6.
What #CM4 specification would you go for, and how much M.2 storage I should get considering I'm at 60GB right now after 7 years?
Thoughts, experience? Would I feel throttled using 1Gbps?

As Compute Modules 4 are back in stock, I have one more #DeskPi #Super6C board I could fill in. #CM4 8GB RAM+256GB Storage would set me £100 per slot. Is it worth splashing out on more ram if I want to use it to host my page?

As #CM4 modules are back in stock with reasonable prices, check out this cluster board. #DeskPi #Super6C is a monster of a server with 6 boards/SSDs and 24 core performance to utilise... and I'm running it as... you guessed it an automation server! 😂

After 2 months offline caused by the house move, I finally fired up my magnificent automation server. 24 cores may seem like overkill, but I mentioned other use cases where #Super6C might be the cluster board you need.

The more I think about #Super6C, the more impressed I am with what else you could do with hardware like this. Check out the peculiar use cases of 24 processing cores!

What could you do with 24 cores and way more RAM than you probably need? I have a couple of ideas on how #DeskPi #Super6C can be used. Find out more about this pretty capable motherboard for clustering #ComputeModule4

This little box has 24 cores and more RAM than your average PC.

So, finally, I've collected 6 #raspberryPi compute modules to power my #DeskPi #Super6c Cluster.
"Modded" with some silent fans, it's now ready to move into my private datacenter (i.e.: the corner under the stairs in the basement).
