Wieder was gelernt...

Grafana-Ablösung – Monitoring in Home Assistant

Hey Fedi, what do you use for monitoring your system?
I want to use Grafana for visualization, but what would be a good choice for collecting the data?

Systems to monitor:
- Linux Server
- qemu VMs
- LXC containers
- Docker containers with Docker compose (LXC)
- FreePBX Asterisk (LXC)
- OPNSense Firewall (VM)
- Execution of cronjobs
- Backups with BorgBackup

Maybe in the future:
- Energy consumption
- Heating system stats

[ Blog ] Monitoring #Proxmox with #InfluxDB and #Grafana
Monitoring Proxmox environment is an essential administrative practice for maintaining a healthy and fully functional system.
It allows administrators to proactively identify and fix issues before they lead to service disruptions.
This guide uses an Ubuntu Linux machine to set up the monitoring stack.

Install InfluxDB

I'm playing around with Monitoring.
Currently trying to make an overview dashboard for the docker containers, e.g. with cpu, ram, network rx/tx per container.

Wanted to make a stacked time series graph, but it looks bad, because of the same thing described in here:
https://github.com/grafana/grafana/issues/91886

Now, should I write the query from Grafana differently for a mean calculation, setup some transformation in the InfluxDB, or change the Telegraf setup 🤔

#Grafana #Telegraf #InfluxDB #Monitoring

Created an issue for this and I really hope this gets some kind of traction.
The #InfluxDB #homeassistant integration is used by over 6% of all instances so I would assume quite a few people would find this extremely annoying once they need to change any of the parameters.

Removing and setting up the integration to adjust a single parameter is not a solution.
