The U.S. and Canada announced changes to the Safe Third Country Agreement (#STCA) on Friday. Now it applies to the entire land border, and will allow both countries to turn back asylum seekers at unofficial border crossings. However, there are exceptions that are important to be aware of.
Instead of ending the #STCA or at least modifying it so that #asylumSeekers can make a claim anywhere along the border, #Canada & the US are going to make it easier to return people seeking protection.
The details are still vague, but all signs point to movement in the wrong direction.
