It makes a nice stiry, doesn't it?

In this weeks #TheEconomist podcast, the journalists could find no evidence for what your memes imply.

I think, taking out the "biggest guy in the yard" to cow the others in the cultural war us a good enough reason.

That is all correct but just scratching the surface. 👉This is no partisan fight anymore. This is an all-out assault on #democracy.

Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, and probably more.

That said, there is, in fact, some merit to this argument, though it would, IMO, further corrupt the US political system, just like the deals made with #RichardNixon and #SpiroAgnew.

And that is: inner peace. #TFG is a cult leader, no doubt. Alas, about a third of Americans are in this cult. At this point, ...

Important lessons from #Bagman a #book by #RachelMaddow 1. George Bush Sr’s role in obstruction of justice in 70’s 2. VP’s crimes forced the question of immunity and established the DOJ policy we still use today 3. Egregious corruption + grifting of republican VP #SpiroAgnew even after resigning, receiving money from Saudis for helping with anti-Zionist propaganda and praising their call for Jihad 4. Bravery of those within the same party to pursue the case amidst intense political pressure

700 years Trump's followers will serve in total, or close to it. I still can't see #Trump ever being sentenced to serious time, like years. If history is any guide, he'll get a plea deal like #SpiroAgnew and disappear into the night. Maybe he'll abscond to the UAE before it comes to that.

Analysis | Trump’s 2020 crusade has led to 700 years in prison sentences

The big recent sentences in the Proud Boys cases highlight the massive toll of Trump’s quixotic quest to stay in power.

I was just thinking back to the Agnew case. For many people, it was hidden behind the flames of Watergate, this lost from our collective memory. But it has strong echoes for today's Trump clown show. Podcasts Bagman or American Scandal will refresh your memory. A nail-biter at the time. #bagman #spiroAgnew #corruption #AmericanScandal #politics #usa #maddow #VP #VPOTUS #DOJ

Very true.
I've listened to some parts twice last year, as there were so many relevant details.

She did a similar #podcast back in 2018 about the staggering demise of #Nixon's #Veep, #SpiroAgnew, but I've listened to just the Bonus Episode from 2023 so far.

In the end, #Trump will get a #SpiroAgnew deal.

It's unimaginable that he'll ever serve an actual prison sentence.

@Maddow was pointing out how #SpiroAgnew resigned his position as @VPOTUS to avoid probable jail time and wondered if this might happend again with #tRunt. There is a real problem with that. There is nothing to resign from, and there is no way to guarantee that he would not run for office again. He could swear on a stack of money that he wasn't going to run; he'd run anyway.
