Anyone want a free bike? Looks like my neighbors are doing a big cleanup and they put 3 bikes out with the trash.
Nothing special, but with a little cleaning and oiling up, someone could ride them.
I'm in #RedwoodCity. I live on "E" Street near the cross-street Lenolt.
If they're still out there when it's good and dark, I think I'll nab them and get them to a thrift store later.
Or if there's any interest here I'd happily hold one for a fedi.

Did some back of envelope math. The marginal cost of commuting up the #SFPeninsula to #SanFrancisco is cheaper with #Caltrain but only because parking is so expensive in SF. If parking were free (as it generally is in industrial parks), a car with decent MPG has about the same cost (and cheaper if you take an EV).

There's also the cost of the car, insurance, etc. But if you need a car for whatever reason, that's a sunk cost.

So for many Bay Area commuters, the decision to ride public transit boils down to whether you find traffic or having to match your plans to the train route/schedule more aggravating I suppose.

Do I know anyone here who lives in the South Bay / Peninsula area?

Thinking of just doing a regular "I'm gonna drink coffee at this one coffee shop in Palo Alto or Redwood City every Friday morning and if someone I know shows up, great, and if not, coffee is coffee."

I'd do this in San Francisco or the East Bay but it is a bit far to do every week.
