I don't remember where I read about using a chisel to open up buttonholes, but it's a life-changer.

Any chisel will do as long as it's narrow enough. Put a scrap of wood (even sturdy cardboard should suffice) behind your work and push gradually and firmly until you feel it pop through. #sewing #sewingTip #buttonhole #DonutShirt

Being a self taught sewist is hearing that understitching is something you don't have to do, but knowing every neckline will roll the wrong way if you don't do it. Ask me how I know.

Lately I've been slip stitching a lot on my garments, and I thought maybe I should share this #sewingtip ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก : whenever I slip stitch yokes or waistbands I like to start from the center and work my way outwards because it prevents shifting/twisting. It's a similar idea to stay stitching a neckline. And bonus, it means I'm not going to slip stitch long seams in one go! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Y'know that spray bottle of water you keep for ironing when you sew. That works great for your face too if it's just a bit warm.

(Don't iron your face, water is nice though)

omg.

she has just taken a small magnet, maybe 2 cm tall, put it on her scissors, and used that as a guide to cut a regular sewing allowance around a pattern.

that loooks like a very useful #sewingTip!
