I currently use #sensibo air sensors to control the #airconditioning in our bungalows.
However, I would like to use something local that does not need a #cloud #subscription to operate. I have already set up a #homeassistant on a Raspberry Pi 4.
Can anyone recommend some sensors that can be used locally and interact directly with Home Assistant without using the cloud?
I need to sense #humidity and #temperature and be able to control the air conditioners.

It seems like that is not possible out of the box. I might be better of installing #solarassistant for that. On the other hand I'd love to connect our #sensibo sensors to #homeassistant as well and think it would be swift to have everything (solar and home automation) in one and the same system.
The folks at #sensibo are risking some very negative online feedback about the reliability of their product. HOpefully their support people will just replace it so we can all move on.

Setting up a new Sensibo Sky ac controller with their Android app was not a good experience. First it refused to connect the device to the Wi-Fi (ad blocker seemingly interfering). Then the firmware upgrade appeared to fail (but actually succeeded). Then the ac remote detection appeared to fail (but actually succeeded).

Every time it failed the app insisted I reset the device and start from scratch, upon which the Wi-Fi join would usually fail once or twice before succeeding.

If I had to guess I'd say this would have all worked fine on iOS and the Android app just isn't well tested.

We use #sensibo sensors to #automate the #airconditioner at home. It worked fine for the first few weeks, but now the triggers seem to fail randomly. 🤔 I need to look into this. Also, I'd like to be able to control them locally rather than via their cloud and saw that there are some #opensource tools available to do just that. 😎

Yeah, maybe it's time to power up the air-conditioning

@macberg I think I figured out humidity by now. Bought a #sensibo air to make the #airconditioning "smart". Now it turns on in dry mode when #humidity goes above 80% and runs until it's back down to 60%. It's also set to run a maximum of 15 minutes in a row. So far it's kept the room "dry" and the AC run time low. As for #electricity, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with #solar in the long run, since we're experiencing power outages in addition to almost always being underpowered. 🤔

today:

Forecast negative not only Feed In Tarriffs but also usage costs: for Wed 25th October 2023 in my region of Victoria: the lowest I've ever seen. Getting paid for using power, it's a really interesting feature of the current energy transition. I will be using, for the first time, #Sensibo to schedule heat pump use even though I won't be at home, and see what this does to my costs for the day... 🤔

I received this by email, and it is a serious attempt at making the #Sensibo product look good. But how is #ChatGPT saying something making someone look better? They even used the free version (3.5).

The only thing they achieved is for me to think about them for longer than usual, and I guess that might actually count as a good thing?
