Melbourne. I like stuff and things. Learning Data Analytics (Python, Java, R, Groovy), Jira/Confluence Admin, BA, Jack of All Trades thanks to a healthy dose of ADHD (gotta do ALL the things) and Autism (gotta know EVERYTHING about em..ooh look shiny thing!).

Inspired by everyone’s incredible aurora photos from last night, I went out to try my luck.

Instead of vibrant skies, I captured some classic suburban light pollution.

I tried using the Pixel’s astrophotography mode with a phone tripod, but the tripod snapped as I set it up.

A rare moment when an Aldi special bought let me down.

From Discord, re their latest data breach...

"The unauthorized party also gained access to a small number of government‑ID images (e.g., driver’s license, passport) from users who had appealed an age determination."

Mandatory age verification has a valid purpose, but its rollout is flawed. This is what happens when governments delegate responsibility to individual platforms, which then subcontract verification to the cheapest provider.

There has to be a better way.

I don’t want AI to make me 10x more productive, I want it to give me Fridays off.

I'm starting a user experience design course today to complement the stuff I do for work.

Looking at the teaching team's profiles, I could not help but notice that almost none of them looked directly at the camera for their headshots. They mostly all look up, to the left, at something presumably more interesting and exciting than me, the student on the other side of the screen.

Most of the profile photos on this site are people looking at the camera (where the image is of a person, and not a cartoon other image).

I wonder if this is something unique to design/creative industries? Or maybe it is just something among the teaching team at this institution.

Anyway, yeah. This is what caused me to come back and post after a while offline. :D

Hope y'all are doing great.

Shoutout to my homies that think social media should be perfectly functional without permission to see my entire local WiFi network, all other Bluetooth devices in the same room as I am, my GPS location, and my entire contact list

This caught my attention more for the fact I am surprised something like this took so long to happen...

A data broker that collects location data from thousands of apps, has been compromised. The scope of the data breach is quite something.

Over 12,000 apps, with enough data points to reverse engineer and identify an individual's movements through location, device, and app data. Some of the more high profile apps impacted by this data breach include:

- Candy Crush
- Tinder
- Grindr
- Microsoft Outlook
- My Period Calendar.& Tracker
- MyFitnessPal

What a story to share in any “tell us about yourself” scenario. Love it. #meme

I’ve been on Amber ever since I saw @jodiem post about it on that other network way back in the day.

It’s always been my goal to get “paid” by them to use electricity by ramping up my usage when prices go into the negative.

I almost achieved that goal yesterday. Might well have gotten over the line if my fuse box didn’t keep tripping with the amount of stuff I was doing all at once for the few hours we had negative prices yesterday.

Portable induction hobs for bulk meal prep, oven on to bake cakes, aircon to keep it cool, laundry self clean cycles… still, 45 cents for just under 40KWh is pretty good eh. Would have been $11.25 under default offer.

If you’re in an area that allows you to use these guys as a retailer, get on it. (But not if you use solar.. negative feed in tarrifs, not nice)
