Here now is the "real" black sand beach of Reynisfjara, South Iceland "bordered" by basalt rocks. The black sand was created by the erosion of volcanic rock.

The black sand beach of Reynisfjara, South Iceland is quite similar to this beach. Actually, this is Djúpalónssandur on Snæfellsnes peninsula, as Danielle Vossebeld corrected me. The black sand was created by the erosion of volcanic rock.
