Tesla's Robovan reminds me of the Mercury streamliner, an art deco locomotive train design from the 1930's.

It's an apt metaphor for Musk's fantasy future, stuck in old science fiction tales. A fantasy of endless resources for personal transportation, endless public money for infrastructure, and where technology will save us all. Ridiculous. Even dangerous.

...But the retro-cool appeal of art deco design never fades.
