Trump and Rubio would have deported Tom Paine for writing seditious pamphlets as a "citizen of the world" and not the US. As it was, Paine died a pariah in the country he did so much to liberate, condemned as a heretic and Jacobin. Only six people attended his funeral in New York City, and the great radical essayist William Cobbett felt compelled to sail over to the States, dig up his bones, and take them back to the UK because the US had betrayed Paine's vision for the country and its own revolution.

On my current trip to #Italy, I thought the easiest way to avoid #RoamingCharges was to turn roaming off & rely on wifi as and when. But the peer pressure for constant access to web-based services (this time WhatsApp & Dropbox) means I’ll have to buy a web package next time.

Here is a comparison of text messages I get on my German and my Dutch sim card when entering another EU country, in this case Belgium. The German provider always sends four messages whereas the Dutch sends only one and offers to turn this off.

Also, part of this is explainable by the wordyness of German vs Dutch, but the ratio of tautological "the rules are the rules" to actual information is too damn high in the German version.
