La diminuzione della precipitazione media mette in crisi il sistema dell’approvvigionamento idrico, soprattutto in regioni particolarmente vulnerabili come la Sicilia. In risposta a questa sfida, i processi di osmosi inversa (OI) per la dissalazione delle acque salate stanno guadagnando una sempre maggiore importanza, consentendo l’utilizzo di fonti di acqua di bassa qualità come quella marina o da pozzi salmastri.

Polyester is being examined as an alternative reverse-osmosis membrane material to the incumbent polyamide. The promised advantages of polyester over polyamide include enhanced resistance to biofouling, chlorine and mineral scaling.
