North Sea Armed Forces LodgeThe Fellowship of Masons was first granted arms in 1472. In about 1530 it changed its title to the Company of Freemasons until, in 1653, the prefix 'free' was dropped, and the Company was known as that of Masons.
The change in 1530 was caused by many religious houses and their connected Masonic Fraternities falling into disfavour, and then a state of collapse primarily caused by the actions of religious reformers.
